Again, we’d like to apologise for the uncertainty surrounding recent events. We have been making necessary arrangements and just returned from the cremation ceremony this morning. While Sachie will be pulling back from her duties as much as possible per Japanese Labor laws, Dale will return to work tomorrow to take care of the bus and support our lead teachers. We have also asked additional assistants to come in throughout the week.
We will also be able to resume normal extended day care operations until 5 p.m. After that, we can operate, but with the caveat that Sachie will be the hoikushi in the building while Dale and Tasia look after the children. This is not ideal for us, but it is in accordance with Japanese city guidelines. The graduates can come in on Tuesday and Wednesday as normal.
As for the Summer Holidays, we will still be happy to offer care for those who would like it and will have the help of our prospective new teacher, Paul, when he comes back from his vacation in 2 weeks. Please let us know if and when you would like to come.
While we will not be advertising a “Summer School” this year, our plan is to arrange fun events depending on the number and type of children that attend. For example: if enough children are scheduled for a day with good weather, we may go to the park/forest/river etc. or arrange themed activities for the day.
We sincerely thank everyone for their kindness and support over the last week. Sachie seems to be recovering well. We would also like to thank Saki, Tasia and the support staff for filling in the gaps and for being so kind and supportive. Outside of COVID times, this is the first disruption to operation we have had in 10 years and hope it will be our last.

Also, as the Heat Index provided by the Japanese Ministry of the Environment is likely to be in the Danger zone all this week, we will not be visiting the forest for Forest Days. We may visit the local park if the heat lets up and are likely to have water play in front of the school.
You can visit the Ministry of the Environment website and see the forecast for the index yourself at Click Here
