Berry English International Preschool
Thank you for taking an interest in our new Preschool Program!
The world is becoming a smaller and smaller place every day, with this, the opportunities to work and play around the world is within the reach of everyone and not just the few. English has become the international language of business and tourism and we believe that to give your child the gift of this language is one of the most beneficial things you can do for them.
It takes years of listening, speaking, thinking and writing of a language to become fluent in it and we know that once you reach an age where you can make the decision to learn a new language for yourself, you already have the responsibilities of work, school and a social schedule to juggle. We simply do not have the time to learn thousands of words and practice using them. It's sometimes a slow and hard process and this is why so many people try, and fail to learn a new language when they are older.
When you are a child, you have time, an eagerness to learn, the energy to play and the perfect opportunity to learn a new language. You want desperately to communicate with everyone around you and learn why everything is the way it is. this makes it easy and fun to learn. We believe in using this energy and eagerness to give them the tools to become bilingual before they even reach Elementary School. They will communicate with their friends, teachers and classmates in this new language and every day learn something new.
We have built up knowledge of other International Schools and Kindergartens in Japan and abroad and have found where some of them excel and others fall short, we believe that by working with the children and their parents and always challenging the way we work, we can become one of the best places in the world for your children to grow. "we have always done it that way, so that's what we do" is not something you will hear from us.
We promise to always find the best possible way to give the best possible benefits to all the children entrusted to us at Berry English and we hope that you expect nothing less.

Curriculum and model schedule
Not all children are the same, not all teachers are the same and not all classes are the same so we will not create a rigid curriculum, sticking to one format of teaching. We constantly review and rewrite our curriculum to best suit the needs of our children and the world. We do include some fundamental pillars of our curriculum which are:
Social Development
learning how to interact with the people around us, to be confident, to share, to be kind to others and how to work as a team.
Phonics
Learning all the sounds in the English language and how to read unfamiliar words.
Sight Words
Learning to read the most popular words in the English language and words to which the phonics system does not apply.
Fine Motor Skills
Learning to use scissor, hold a pencil etc.
Maths
Learning basic calculations and counting
The World Around Us/Discovery
Discovering the world around us through science, cultural studies and events from all around the world.
Physical Development
Nurturing all the tools you need to run, play and live a healthy life.
Elementary Preparation
We know that our job is not only to provide an education in the English language, but also to ensure your children are all ready for the next step. whether that be an international school, a private or public school abroad or at home. we aim to ensure all of our students move on to their next stage of development with confidence and the right tools to succeed.
An example of a typical day at Berry English might look like:
0900-0930 Arrival/Free Play time
"Good morning! Let's play!!"
0930-1030 Good Morning/Circle Time
"What are we doing today?"
1030-1100 Park time!
"Let's go outside!"
We all get ready to go outside and play, learning how to walk together in the street and looking at the nature around us.
1130-1200 Wind down time
"That was fun!"
After playing at the park, it's time to wash our hands, sit down and relax while the teacher reads us a story.
1200-1300 Lunch and Play Time!
"Let's eat!!"
It's time to get ready for lunch! I wonder what Mummy made me today. We eat our lunch together and as we finish we tidy up by ourselves and play while we wait for our friends to finish.
1300-1400 Lesson Time
"I did it!"
It's time to learn something new from our teacher. Maybe phonics, reading, our workbooks or even a craft!
1400 Home Time!
"Is Mummy here yet?"
It's time to talk about what we did today, get our jackets and bags and give our mummies a big hug and tell them about our day. "see you tomorrow!"
